The Short Version

Pay as required, keep resident-paid utilities active, report problems promptly, maintain reasonable cleanliness, use the property safely, follow occupant and pet rules, permit lawful access under the lease and keep written records. Your lease—not this summary—defines the specific obligations for your home.

Ongoing Resident Checklist

Area Resident Habit
Rent and account Pay through an authorized method, review confirmations and raise specific account questions promptly
Utilities Maintain required resident-paid services and follow safe provider procedures
Maintenance Report leaks, damage, safety concerns and malfunctioning equipment early with useful details
Cleanliness Keep the home reasonably clean, control trash and avoid conditions that attract pests or cause damage
Safety Use appliances and systems as intended; do not disable safety devices or make unauthorized repairs
People and pets Follow approved-occupant, guest, pet and assistance-animal processes
Access Keep contact information current and follow lease procedures for entry, inspections and repairs
Changes Obtain written approval before painting, installing fixtures, changing locks or altering the property

Use DoorLoop for a Clear Record

  • Save payment confirmations and review recent transactions.
  • Submit complete maintenance requests with photos, location, access permission and pet information.
  • Update an existing request rather than creating duplicates.
  • Review relevant messages, notices and shared files.
  • Do not send passwords, verification codes or full financial-account numbers.

Report These Promptly

  • Water leaks, moisture, sewage or signs of rapidly increasing damage.
  • Electrical hazards, missing or sounding safety devices, gas odor or carbon-monoxide concerns.
  • Heating, cooling, plumbing or appliance failures covered by the rental arrangement.
  • Broken locks, windows or other security concerns.
  • Pest activity, unauthorized entry or conditions affecting neighbors or common areas.

Emergencies Require Immediate Action

Call 911 for fire, suspected gas, carbon monoxide, a medical emergency, an active break-in or immediate danger. A routine DoorLoop request is not a substitute for emergency services.

Your Lease Still Controls

This guide explains practical resident steps but does not change your lease, property rules, written notices or applicable law. Follow the documents and property-specific instructions that apply to your tenancy.
